Town of Amherst Refuse Collection

For single family homes, the Decleration of  Covenants and Restrictions stipulates that refuse containers should not be visible except on the day of refuse collection.  Other communities in Ransom Oaks have different requirements.

Typically, refuse collection is on Thurday but will be delayed one day when these National Holidays fall on a weekday:
New Years Day,  Memorial Day,  Fourth of July,  Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Please be advised that different sections of Ransom Oaks may not use the Town and have different refuse pick up days.

The Town no longer collects electronics waste.  Electronics can be dropped off at no cost at the Amherst Highway Department, 1024 N. Forest Rd.  More details can be found here.

Modifying the Exterior of a Single Family Home

For single family homes, the Architectural Committee is charged with enforcement of the  Decelaration of Protecive Covenants, Conditions,  and Restrictions. 

Any and all changes to the outside appearance of the a home must have prior approval by the Architectural Committee before work is begun. Our goal is to ensure that Ransom Oaks remains a desirable place to live.

Fences

No fences are allowed under the Decelaration of Protecive Covenants, Conditions,  and Restrictions without the written approval of the Architectural Committee. The concept of Ransom Oaks is an open area, with spacious views and as little non-natural intrusion as possible.

Storage of Boats & Campers

The Decelaration of Protecive Covenants, Conditions,  and Restrictions states that boats, boat trailers, house trailers, campers, snowmobiles or any similar items shall not be permitted to be stored on any lot longer than 14 days unless garaged or screened in a manner acceptable to the Architectural Committee. There are several storage facilities in the vacinity of Ransom Oaks for storage of  boats, trailers and other items.
